Dubrovnik is simply enchanting. Much of the old city looks quite like it did almost 1,000 years ago, and that won’t change anytime soon, as the city itself is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Get lost in one of the hundreds of narrow stone alleyways and you may just feel like you’ve wandered back in time… turn a corner and re-enter the 21st century on a street lined with tourist-filled cafes. But take a wander beyond too. The real Dubrovnik is in the small neighborhoods and modest cafes outside the tourist areas. This city is so rich in intangible cultural heritage it would be a shame to focus just on the obvious.
