Konjic is a town and municipality in northern Herzegovina, approximately 50 km southwest of Sarajevo. It is a mountainous and heavily-wooded area located 268 m above sea level. The municipality extends on both sides of the Neretva River, while the town of Konjic houses about one-third of the municipality’s population. The city is one of the oldest permanent settlements in Bosnia, dating back almost 4,000 years.
Rakitnica is one of the largest tributaries of the Neretva River. Between the Bjelašnica and Visočica Mountains, Rakitnica has a unique altitude difference of 800 m between the source and estuary. The canyon of the Rakitnica River is one of the deepest in Europe, and attracts many tourists due to its pristine nature and river rich with fish.
The canyoning tour starts with a road drive from Konjic to the village of Dubočani. Renting of equipment, theoretical and practical preparations by our licensed guides. During the whole activity, we use swimming, diving, climbing, floating, as well as jumping into certain parts of the canyon, in order to successfully overcome the herds that Rakitnica challenges us with. Small beaches along the canyon will enable the participants to have small breaks for meals and taking photos. The tour lasts about 7 hours, depending on the number of participants and the tempo of movement. Canyoning is considered to be the perfect extreme-adventure excursion and a real challenge for everyone who wants to feel the rush of real adrenaline. Moreover, the Canyon of Rakitnica River is of interest to many geologists, while many organizations are actively involved in protecting the canyon and declaring it a national park.
All necessary equipment for canyoning is provided (hydrospeed board, neoprene suit, helmet, vest, boots, wind-jacket, ropes), as well lunch boxes (sandwich, juice, fruit, chocolate). Participants need to provide a swimsuit and additional clothes for change.
