Hike the majestic and picturesque canyon of the Sutjeska River, surrounded by Bosnia's highest mountain peaks and thick forests teeming with endemic flora- an experience many have compared to that of Yellowstone National Park.
Tour available from start of May until end of September.
We recommend participants bring hiking boots or sturdy walking shoes, a day pack, 1 liter of water, rain gear, fleece, sun hat, and a camera, as well as swimwear if you’re interested in taking a dip.
After a two-hour drive from Sarajevo, we will arrive in the deep and picturesque canyon of the Sutjeska River. During this tour, we will veer off towards Dragoš Saddle and take a peek at the Skakavac waterfall deep in the Perućica valley. We will walk around the thick forest teeming with endemic flora toward Prijevor for more incredible views of the majestic park. Maglić, Zelengora and Volujak will tower around us, an experience many have compared to that of Yellowstone National Park.
At the edge of the forest, we will descend towards the Trnovačko Glacier Lake, set in the middle of a huge amphitheater of rocky peaks, at 1,500 meters. Weather-permitting, we will enjoy an ice-cold swim (only for the very fit) and tasty lunch. Participants can relax and enjoy the sight surrounded by Bosnia’s best peaks. After lunch, we will head back to civilization, enjoying the soft glow of the setting sun above Zelengora and Maglić, Bosnia’s highest peaks.
